Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen got his money before general manager Tom Telesco’s rule of not negotiating contracts during the regular season.
Allen signed a multi-year contract extension Saturday, the team announced. The four-year deal runs through the 2024 season and is worth more than $80 million, a source confirmed. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was first to report the extension.
Allen was heading into the final year of his contract, and with two days away from the start of Week 1, Telesco locked up a second star this summer. Defensive end Joey Bosa signed a five-year, $135 million extension before the start of training camp in July.
Allen has had many Twitter rants about being overlooked in the wide receiver rankings. That’s not the case with the Chargers, who made him the second-highest paid receiver in the NFL.
