UCLA QB Chase Griffin starts vs. Arizona

PASADENA — UCLA is expected to start quarterback Chase Griffin tonight against Arizona.

Griffin made his first college start last week in Autzen Stadium against then-No. 11 Oregon.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson remains out because of coronavirus contact tracing.

Griffin managed the offense in his debut as the starter, completing 19 of 31 passes for 195 passing yards and one touchdown. He had just three incompletions in the first half. He also had three of the Bruins’ four turnovers against Oregon.

“Any turnovers I have in a game, that’s on me,” Griffin said. “It’s unacceptable at the quarterback position, and every game you go in, you want to minimize the turnovers, not to two, not to one, you want to have zero turnovers.”

Griffin’s two interceptions and a fumble were among the four turnovers the Ducks converted into four touchdowns to secure the 38-35 victory.

The Bruins have allowed four turnovers in each of their two losses this season.
