QB Jake Garcia decommits from USC, reopens recruitment

Former Narbonne and La Habra quarterback Jake Garcia has decommitted from USC, he announced on Twitter Thursday night.

Garcia had been committed to the Trojans since the fall of 2019, being the first QB to join USC’s 2021 recruiting class. Bishop Alemany quarterback Miller Moss committed to USC this June.

“After many discussions with my family and careful consideration, I am decommitting from USC,” Garcia wrote. “Doing so will allow me to honestly evaluate my options as the early signing date quickly approaches. No love has been lost for the USC family.”

Garcia played his junior year at Narbonne before transferring to La Habra. But when the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the California high school football season to the spring, Garcia opted to finish his career in Georgia and still enroll early at college. He first transferred to Valdosta High before being ruled ineligible and moving again to Grayson.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Garcia is a four-star prospect, per 247Sports.com’s composite rankings.
