Signshop Takes Client Development to New Level with Personal Pizza Program

JULY 31-AUG. 6

OUTREACH Pizza Fridays! One Brain Squad member’s shop recently purchased a pizza oven. Every other Friday they invite a customer to lunch. They set up various toppings on the production table, make their own dough and let people create their own personal pizzas. After lunch, they give a shop tour and then let the guests sign their Pizza Friday sign. Each customer who has come has put in an order — for a sign not a pizza — either while at the shop, or by calling later because of something they saw during their visit, the Squad member reports.

AUG. 7-13

PRODUCTION Time to finalize projects for public school districts, private schools and universities getting ready to open for fall classes.

MANAGEMENT As August marks the midway point of the third quarter, now is a good time to start evaluating the projects that need to be completed or brought under contract before year end.

AUG. 14-20

TRAINING School starting may also present a good opportunity for your own or employees’ education if programs in your area (or online) fit your needs.

AUG. 21-27

FACILITIES If business slows this season or excessive heat keeps you in the shop, use the down time to check and clean equipment.

MARKETING Update website photo/project galleries, share process videos, post regularly to social media to build a following and remember to include a link back to your site whenever possible.

AUG. 28-SEPT. 3

CUSTOMERS Start compiling the list of customers you plan to give end-of-year/holiday gifts. Try to get ahead of this early. It helps with planning and budgeting, especially since the end of the year tends to get busier with seasonal orders and preparing for time off.
