How to have breakfast with the seals and sea lions at the Aquarium of the Pacific

They’re some of the loudest and most entertaining animals at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach and starting this weekend a few lucky people will get to hang out with them for Sunday breakfast — although the seals and sea lions aren’t likely to share any of their morning grub.

The aquarium launches its Seals and Sea Lions Experience Sunday, Sept. 6.

Every Sunday from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., before the venue opens to the public, 20 people will be able to see two of aquarium’s four harbor seals, Shelby and Ellie, as well as its four sea lions, Chase, Cain, Parker and Harpo, enjoy breakfast and get their morning health checkups.

The breakfast menu is strictly seafood, including herring, squid, trout and sometimes sardines and mackerel.

For their health checkups, the seals and sea lions will do things like lift their flippers and open their mouths to let the handlers check for any injuries.

Some people may even be starstruck at breakfast since the sea lions have become quite the TikTok stars thanks to videos that show them barking really loud and being their usual goofy selves.

One particular video with Cain, Parker and Harpo competing to see who can bark the loudest, has already amassed more than 3 million likes on TikTok.

Harpo won, by the way.
